Reload Volume 9
Oh, yeah! Forgot to mention that the ninth volume of Saiyuki Reload is out:
Quickie response to Vol 8: Aw, poor Goku! First crush, first kiss, first heartbreak. Very much like his maturing character arc, though. I might possibly feel sorry for Hazel. Maybe.
Quickie respose to Vol 9: YES!!!! Finally, Ukoku and Sanzo meet and smack each other around a bit. I've been waiting a long, long time for that. Also glad to see the folks at Hontou Castle are wondering where their resident mad scientist has gone. I'd wondered myself if anyone had noticed Dr Ni had disappeared.
Other quickie response: It was good to see Kou, even if he was only peeling potatoes in a side story. Several scenes in Vol 9 made me laugh outloud, especially Sanzo's "I'm fucking mortified" and Gojyo's reaction to his prize costume.

Finally!
In stores this month, after an excrutiatingly long wait! I'm totally unspoiled on this one; I have no idea what's going to happen. 
I hope we get to check in with Kougaiji and crew for a bit, though I'm so happy to have a new volume that I'll cope if my favorite youkai prince doesn't get a panel or two.

Looks like there was finally a new Saiyuki chapter, which must mean Minekura has recovered from her hospital stay and operation, and is back to life as usual. Good for her (and for us fans!)

Thanks to an email from Nancy Vancamp:
I spoke with an official at Tokyopop/Los Angeles division. They informed me that the reason why Vol. 8 was not released in the US was because of licensing issues they had to deal with. When the matter was resolved, they realized that the would not make the release date of August 2007. Vol. 8 is scheduled for release on June 2008! Yes, that is correct!
Ugh. Almost an entire year away! It must have been some licensing issue. Anyway, thanks to Nancy for the update!
